Connect your client with care
Lisa Johnson, PMHNP-BC, MPH provides psychiatric and mental health services through Thrivewell Health. Eligible Maryland Medicaid / HealthChoice members can ask about virtual care from any Maryland county or Baltimore City.
Before referring, contact the practice to confirm the requested service, current availability, Medicaid eligibility, applicable coverage, and clinical fit. HealthChoice membership alone does not establish coverage for every service or the billing pathway for specialty behavioral health care.
For an initial inquiry, describe the service needed without identifiable patient information. Ask Thrivewell for the appropriate secure process before sending clinical records.

Member coverage to verify
Referral professionals supporting members of these plans can contact Thrivewell to confirm the applicable Maryland Medicaid behavioral health coverage and service eligibility. This list identifies member plans; it does not mean every specialty service is billed directly to the MCO.
Referral partnerships
Ask about service fit, availability, coverage verification, and how a member can begin the intake process. Coordinate within the member’s existing care plan and applicable behavioral health pathway.
When your client may benefit from psychiatric evaluation, ADHD assessment, or medication management, discuss the role of each clinician. With appropriate authorization, relevant treatment information can support coordination.
Professionals helping clients navigate care can ask about service fit, coverage verification, intake steps, and how to coordinate a referral. Share information within your role, applicable supervision requirements, and the client’s authorization.
Therapists, OB-GYN teams, midwives, doulas, and postpartum support professionals can ask about psychiatric care for pregnancy-related or postpartum mood and anxiety concerns. Assessment considers individual needs and clinical fit; medication decisions during pregnancy or breastfeeding require individualized discussion and may involve coordination with the medical team.
Discuss the clinical question, current treatment, and relevant medical information that may be needed. Confirm whether Thrivewell’s virtual outpatient scope matches the client’s needs.
Contact the practice before naming Thrivewell as a follow-up provider. Acceptance requires review of clinical fit, records, current availability, and appropriate outpatient needs. Thrivewell does not guarantee an appointment within a discharge deadline or provide crisis, on-call, or intensive transition services.
